I would say that it is OK to have the individual's mind and soul
(in this case the craftsman's) as the one who "glues" everything together.
In this case, I would say that in the violin making task, the environment
is the craftsman's purpose, which is composed of the inanimate materials
(that take on meaning and life in the hands and mind of the craftsman),
the design (which may or may not be expressed in a blueprint, but still
exists in the mind of the violin maker), the measurable skills (the use of
the hands to sand, glue, etc.), and the vision of the piece of equipment's
future of notes, music, and interaction with the music player and with
other music players and instruments! In this part of the process, it is
the craftsman the one who manages the relationships, the connections. No
one else can manage this for her/him!

Makes sense?

I think that by using active listening and engaging in intensive
interaction with people, I have been able to communicate (instill?) this
kind of notion in others. Koopman (Transcultural Management) task about
this too. What I can tell here is that when poeple in the organization
see and feel these connections and relationships they also feel a very
strong sense of purpose, and the organization learns faster!

I look like an idealist here, and I am!
