Hello, my name is Michael Casey and I'm somewhat new to this world
of Systems Thinking. I say "somewhat" because I guess I have been skirting
around its edges for some time without really knowing it. For example, I
have been an aficionado of process modeling and simulation for many years
and have been using the software iTHINK with some success in my field.
Additionally, I have found the use of scenario planning to be very useful.
Again because it fits very well with the kind of stuff that I do. I also
believe in tools like mind-mapping and, particularly, the creativity
enhancing tools as developed by Edward de Bono.

My first exposure to the formal collective world of System
Thinking was this Fall at the Symposium in San Francisco. I found it quite
stimulating but was humbled to learn that most attendees didn't stumble
onto these things as I had but had pursued them in a more rigorous,
incremental and ultimately, far more complete fashion.

So here I am, learning as I go and thinking a lot more about
things like "community", "fields of value" and learning organizations.
Thanks for the opportunity.

I am employed by the Canadian Federal Government where I manage a
systems group and manage projects associated with improving marine
navigation systems.
