In this case, I suspect that the limiting resource is (as discussed on the
Gutenberg list a bit ago)bandwidth. As we saw on July 20, when several 100,000
requested Jupiter gif's the combined bandwidth of the inter-net can be exceeded
by the demand. Granted that ATM, Frame-Relay and other methods will increase
the available resource (bandwidth), but increasing traffic and increased per
message traffic which characterizes mosaic sessions will/can exhaust that new
supply as well. Some T-3 segments of the current structure already are loading
up at peak traffic times.
