Ten years ago the no-name storm of '91 left a five foot sand dune in the Beach Boys' basement (their previous home, not the current custom designed dream house). The most beach erosion in recorded memory took place right there on Salisbury Beach. People around here remember the storm vividly and mostly call it the no-name storm. The name "Perfect Storm" came from the National Weather Service at the time, but became famous because of the Sebastian Junger book and the movie by that name. Real people, not actors, died in that storm. If you want to see reality instead of computer generated special effects, check out the Coast Guard's images of the storm. |
