Lizzy's 10th birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran around doing chores this morning, having decided my house was a hopeless mess. Wilbur was relieved that I changed the litter box. My neighbors may or may not have been happy I took the trash bags that had been stacked next to my porch over to the dumpster. I keep my gate closed so they can't see my overgrown yard and so that various flying sports objects won't hit my back door. They do anyway, but I can't very well build a backstop. That would definitely be against the condo bylaws. The other night I threw one of the tennis balls I found on my back walk over toward one of the units where the ball playing kids live. I hit their door straight on, really hard. I didn't think I could throw that well anymore. Anyway, I made some headway on the chores and was about to start pruning the bushes when I realized I didn't have enough time to shower, pick up a few groceries, and pick Nancy up at the bus station before the Lizzy Birthday festivities. Where does the time go?

I did manage to shower, grab a few of the necessary groceries, wrap Lizzy's present, and still arrive at the bus station just as Nancy was getting off the bus. We had a leisurely drive to Groton from Boston and arrived right on time. It was a nice day for an outdoor family gathering. Plenty of sunshine, not too many mosquitoes and not too much humidity. Lizzy and her cousins Pamela and Laura all seemed a little tired from their week at 4-H camp, but everybody managed to have a good time.

We got home to my place in plenty of time to watch Xena: Warrior Princess, go over the poems I am reading tomorrow at North Parish, and hit the sack early so as to have half a shot at getting up in time for the 9:00 AM poetry reading. I never did prune the bushes.
