It has never rained on Pride in Providence, and despite the heavy gray skies and oppressive humidity, it didn't rain today either. It didn't rain. Amazing. So much for the notion that flying the rainbow flag causes hurricanes, tornadoes and terrorist attacks. We missed the parade as I got to Providence a little late and got lost in Pawtucket when I had to get off I-95 to avoid a massive traffic jam. There was some kind of accident or something. I don't usually get lost in Pawtucket but that has happened to me at least twice before in the vicinity of downtown. I finally figured out that East Ave is one way the wrong way. This time instead of improvising, I bought a street map of Pawtucket and looked up an alternate route to get to the two way part of East Ave into Providence. After my getting lost adventure, Nancy and I went out to lunch at the Garden Grille - the vegetarian restaurant in Pawtucket and then headed over to the Festival of Pride at India Point Park. Princess Pearl emceed the festival proceedings with his/her usual good cheer and flair. Afterwards, Nancy and I went out to dinner with Annette and Liz at Rue de L'Espoir. The leaning tower of portobello was fabulous! |
