Supposedly we are still in a state of emergency and flood warning are still in effect until tomorrow morning but all I'm experiencing is a drizzly gray day - complete with sinus headache - and occasional encounters with yellow caution tape. Actually I saw a fair amount of yellow caution tape in the general area of the Shawsheen River when I went out to buy groceries this afternoon. One of the soccer fields at the intersection of 28 and 133 looked more like a swimming pool and I noticed the river was almost up to road level as it went under the bridge on 133. It looked kind of funny with the huge "Dam Ahead" sign and barely enough room for a toothpick to pass under the bridge let alone any water craft that might need to know about the dam. Hmm, one of those situations where I could've used a digital camera.

So what does one do on a drizzly state of emergency kind of day? The same stuff. I went to therapy and talked about my total inadequacy as an aunt, got a combo plate lunch at the Earth Food store and ate it at Starbucks, talked with Philosophy Larry, talked with Ned, picked up my laundry, worked on my poem for The Andovers Anthology, worked on the IDRI web page, tried to logon to my ISP unsuccessfully a jillion times, bought groceries, tried to connect another jillion times without success, the usual stuff. I actually did connect to world once and the entire internet was so slow it wasn't worth it. I just saw on tv that the internet slowdown was caused by people watching the live childbirth in Florida or wherever it was - 10 million hits they said. I wanted to print out another copy of the article about Denver Holt, because Ned asked if he could keep the copy I showed him this afternoon. Apparently, Denver is coming here from Montana for Mrs. Claflin's funeral on Thursday.

Later that same day... I finished the poem - no you don't get to read it here because then it wouldn't qualify as "new work" for the anthology. I made progress on the IDRI web page. I still couldn't connect to the silly internet for more than 30 seconds or so and therefore haven't posted this entry or the changes to IDRI's page.
