Someone is interested in adopting Jaguar. Eileen told me this before I even started in on the dishes this morning. The person hasn't met him yet. Eileen wasn't sure whether she had seen his picture in the paper or on the web site. Supposedly she has had other cats who sprayed and doesn't mind it. That would be wonderful for Jaguar. I don't want to get too excited for him yet - he could take a bite out of her or rake her arm or something. But maybe this is for real.

Jaguar has been there since the shelter opened. He was the first cat I met when I started working there - he raked my arm - drew blood - the first day. He's kind of the mascot of the place. He used to be really mean but he has mellowed a lot. I've really worked at getting to know him and relating to him. I always joked that I can't go back to the real world (as opposed to the sabbatical world) until Jaguar gets adopted. There's really no connection. Just one of those pathetic fallacies.

Meanwhile. Pumpkin was fairly well-behaved today. She didn't commandeer the sink or the big yellow barrel of litter. She did however try to make a break for it when Betty came to deliver some stuff. When her efforts were thwarted, she let out the loudest yowl I have ever heard come from a cat. Then she went and sulked in George & Liza's cage. George & Liza didn't mind because they were curled up in the linen closet.

The laundry is still out of control. I did load after load and still felt no closer to the bottom of the pile. The stuff on the bottom has been there for days and days. I keep meaning to pack lunch and supper and a book or a laptop to amuse myself and just camp out there until the laundry is done. However, since were were supposed to have snow or freezing rain today, it didn't seem like today was the day to do that. I didn't want to be stuck trying to drive home in dangerous weather. Of course, the weather hasn't materialized, but ...

Well, actually, it is raining now - several hours later - and the forecast is no longer for snow or sleet or freezing rain -just rain. Plain ordinary rain. Like there's anyplace to put it. There continue to be ponds where they never were before, not to mention rivers in odd places. If it truly does rain all day tomorrow and then we get socked again on Friday with another storm system, it could be big fun - whatever happened to that inflatable boat I used to have.... Hmm....
