as snow fliesWell, gee. The last I heard last night this was supposed to be 1 to 3 inches then changing to rain. I woke this morning to radio reports of school closings, coastal flood warnings, and predictions of 6 to 12 inches north and west of Boston. Oops. Kevin called this morning to let me know I have the day off. No school, no pinano, no Aunt Janet. This is good as it would be damn near impossible to get there on 495 if the traffic reports are anywhere near accurate. A good day to stay in pajamas, drink herbal tea, and watch it snow. Late last night Wilbur was dashing around the house growling and attacking thin air in a way he usually does only during wild wind storms. Maybe he has some way of knowing the snow is coming. Unless he heard it on the radio too :-) I'm still getting over my cold. I had a sort of relapse last night when I went to my meeting. My throat got sore and I started coughing again. I started losing my voice when I tried to talk at the meeting. By the time I got home my voice was gone again. Sigh. I croaked a few words to Nancy, checked my messages, and went to bed. By the time I got up this morning I felt a little better but I think having the day off is a godsend. Despite the relative lack of activity, today is passing fairly quickly. Between napping, drinking herbal tea, and browsing the immense pile of catalogs that accumulated while i was away, the day is spent. Not well spent, but spent. The forecast keeps changing throughout the day, and the local NPR station seems to think only the Boston weather matters to its listeners so they give detailed info about amounts and kinds of precipitation in Boston and then make some blanket statement about "more north and west". The snow has let up, nearly stopped, right now (3:55 PM) so I feel like I should put on warm clothes and go shovel out the car just to be ready for when the plow comes. I have this problem all the time - never ready when the plow comes to clear the courtyard, thus incurring the wrath of the neighbors. I also feel like I should go out snowshoeing or something to prove I find winter "both comfortable and enjoyable" as they do in Sapporo.
