Boats at Lake Velence. Nothing whatsoever to do with today's entry except that I was combing through old images looking for something on which I could base a new logo for the journal, and instead when I saw this image I remembered I had thought it would make a good painting. Through the miracle of Photoshop I don't have to learn to paint to make it look the way I imagined. The past week or so I've been having trouble connecting to my ISP or staying connected once I do get in. Then even when I get and stay connected everything is so slow it's maddening. I'd search for a book (by botanist Jane Colden if you must know) on bibliofind and be convinced I'd lost the connection again before search results came back. Same thing with researches on the major search engines, amazon, and so on and so on. I got so frustrated trying to upload yesterday's journal entry that I almost decided to stop doing the journal. Oh well, I did manage to upload yesterday's entry and check on my orders at amazon this afternoon before leaving to meet the walking buddies for a walk in the freezing cold. We started walking a half hour late, so I was doing everything else a half hour late and didn't get to Providence until well after 6:00. Not that we had any special plans as Nancy has the beeper this weekend (one week every other month taking the emergency calls) and hates to have to leave movies, concerts, etc. when a page comes in. We got through dinner at Gourmet House (crispy yellow noodles with vegetables and vegetable fried lort) without getting beeped and then stopped at Acme Video to rent a flick for the evening. We settled on Toy Story 2, which proved an excellent choice. |
