Yesterday, which was otherwise pretty much of a lost day, I finally poisoned the wasps in the door. I finally decided I was more scared of the wasps than scared of the poison. I finished reading Uttermost Part of the Earth this afternoon despite interruptions from Hussein and then Tom at the coffee shop. I've felt so immersed in Tierra del Fuego while reading it that I feel disoriented to be back. I can switch in and out of Thoreau's Concord or Malcolm MacDonald's Brewery Creek more easily. Hadn't seen Tom since he took off for the left coast the day his semester ended to visit the new grandchild. I asked Tom if he had any baby pictures to show me but he said they're not taking pictures, they are making videos. With filmmakers for parents, the kid already has had three documentaries made about her. We are having a northeaster today. Rain and wind. Thankfully, no thunder and lightning. |
