18 Nov 99 Mass CUE

But it wasn't me, it was Arlene giving a presentation at the Mass. Computer Using Educators conference today. You can read about her project in an article that someone who's been working with her for most of the last year wrote. She was preparing the talk, handouts, and displays for about the last two weeks. It went over well. One person told her that she had attended the conference specifically to hear Arlene's presentation. She hasn't got an invitation from Apple to speak about it at any national conferences yet, though.

Meanwhile, let's see. Tuesday we had three clarinetists, not to mention Glen, at klez. We'll be doing a concert on Dec. 7, which gives us just two more rehearsals. Since the audience at our concerts is always mostly family, friends, and some of the senior citizens who live across the parking lot from the JCC, it's a low pressure kind of thing.

Monday and Tuesday I didn't swim because of an infected fingernail. You're not supposed to use the pool if you have an open sore, but I think really mostly I was feeling lazy. Wedensday morning I painted over the sore with some NuSkin (collodion, is it?) and swam 28 lengths at about the same pace as I had done two weeks earlier. That's what I get for not swimming for four days in a row. Then I went out unicycling at lunch time -- it was really too nice a day to stay in the whole day -- and promptly barked my shin on the pedal trying to get started. See, you start with one foot on a pedal and the other on the ground, and then you have to catch the other pedal with the other foot as you step down on the first pedal. When, not if, you miss, the free pedal slams into your shin. Ouch. It's not as bad as some times I've done it, but it was enough to justify not swimming again today.

So this evening I found that you can laser print onto Sundance Felt cover stock. That's a heavily textured paper that we've had invitations printed on in the past, and we have lots left over. I'm working on a postcard that needed text on both sides, and then I'll stamp some eraser carvings on it. The postcard is "Kokopelli meets Kohelet." GIF another day. Hmm. Maybe you can't laser print so darn well onto Sundance Felt cover. It doesn't seem to be firmly fused; the toner rubs off it I try hard. It'll have to do, I think.

I still haven't been playing computer solitaire. I wish I knew why my concentration and attention span seem to be so much better this week than for the last few months. It's not that I'm feeling so much better physically, because I don't think I am. It's dark longer outside, so you'd think I'd be suffering a little from seasonal affective stuff, rather than being more together. Beats me.
