15-August-99 Retrieving Anne

. .
.
Today, after living in Moscow for almost two years, Anne is back in the states for the forseeable future. I haven't wanted everyone on the internet to know that she had been there -- not that I don't trust regular readers, but you don't know what low-life might stumble onto a site, especially with the stories people tell about their referrer data. Anyway, we drove down to JFK Airport in New York today to get her and her two cats, turned around, and got her slightly settled in her new apartment in Cambridge late this evening. It's too late now to talk much about the hassle with her lost ticket and the intercontinental phone calls at 3 AM last night (for Anne, that was 11 AM this morning Moscow time) to try to get the replacement straightened out. Fortunately Anne and Arlene handled all those phone calls. I didn't get to sleep through them, but at least I did the driving. We sure are glad to have her home!
