10-August-99 A new padlock

. .
.
The padlock on my garage door fell apart when I took my bike out this morning. I've probably had the lock for thirty years, and I guess that entitles some snap ring or something inside it to have rusted through. All the same, it was a shock when the shackle pulled completely out when I opened it.

I went for a ride on the river walk after lunch and came back via the hardware store in downtown Nonantum. It came down to a choice between a Master lock for $7.49 or one that said “Ultra Security” for $6.99. Partly it was the brand name, but mostly I didn't want the lock on my garage saying “Ultra Security.” That seemed a little like saying, “Hey thieves, I have really valuable stuff in here. Bet you can't get in!”

We got our ad done for the November issue of Rubberstampmadness, got caught up with bookkeeping, and put away half of our latest order of stamp mounts. Things are beginning to get back to normal here, but the jet lag isn't all gone yet.

I've worked a little more on the entry for August 2, but it's nowhere near done.
