This handsome antique bench was designed and built by my husband's great-great-Grandfather and was handed down through the family. It is made from 7/8 inch thick pine. The cut-outs at the bottoms of the sides still have some pencil marks around the edges. The bench is held together only with large cut nails through the top and sides. The side pieces are angled out slightly to give the bench stability. It has traces of gray paint all over it. As you can see, it was a durable piece.
