The Peace which passeth understanding

Eliot's note to line 433 defines Shantih as 'The Peace which passeth understanding.' The Book of Philippians, Chapter 4, verse 7 reads:

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
