Repetition

Somewhat obvious here is the repetition of the words After the in the first three lines of the section:

• 322)  After the torchlight red on sweaty faces
  323)  After the frosty silence in the gardens
  324)  After the agony in stony places
  325)  The shouting and the crying
  

Contrast

Note that the first line mentions torchlight red on sweaty faces, a image of heat, yet the following line has frosty silence. Then the picture of gardens is followed by one of stony places. Finally, Eliot's silence is replaced with shouting and crying.
