Perhaps 250 members of SABR [at least 240, judging by the vote for Ed Summers reported here] selected "retroactive" Rookies of the Year beginning in 1900, in elections conducted by Lyle Spatz, who reported in The Baseball Research Journal 1986. The detail vote was omitted from that report, for lack of space. The detail for 1901-10 is published here for the first time; 1911-46 remains unpublished.
SABR mimicked the process used by the BBWAA for the official award since 1980: each voter ranked as many as three candidates; 1st, 2d, and 3d votes were counted as 5, 3, and 1 points.
Rookies of the Year named by Bill Deane and STATS are noted, where they differ from those named by SABR.
