Biography Subjects featured

in two volumes on 19th century base ballists


Nineteenth Century Stars (SABR, 1989) and Baseball's First Stars (SABR, 1996) include 289 biographies of 19th century baseball people. Each is still available from the University of Nebraska Press. Use "Quick Search" for "910137" to get a list of all SABR publications currently available.

Here are the 289 featured subjects. 22 were also selected for Deadball Era biographies about ten years later. The original 19th century editors recommended 44 other subjects who did not attract biographers.
