Save

Practice saving files with appropriate names and extensions in specific locations.

The most critical part of Web publishing is actually learning to create, manage and move files.

HTML files are actually just plain text files with .htm on the end instead of .txt -- it is very important to alway use text files with .htm instead of .txt for your pages.

REMINDER!

Whenever naming files for this class, please use the following rules:

1. Use eight letters or less
2. Never use spaces and avoid strange characters
3. Use the extension .htm (vs. .html)

Keep all your files together in one place on your harddrive.
Create a folder with your last name (or part if over 8 letters).
Move your files that you have worked on into the folder.
Be sure all of the work that you do saves to this folder at all times.
Work off of the harddrive, NOT a floppy.
From time to time, copy your files from that folder to floppy
to hand the files into me and take home with you.

Practice opening the HTML file you have created in both the editor and the browser at the same time, then practice flipping back and forth between making small changes to the file in the text editor and viewing it in the browser.
