Ben Compton's message opens up the issue of fear in organisations. I was
very struck by an extract from Arthur Miller's recent play "Broken Glass"
which said:
"If you're alive, you're afraid. We're born afraid - a new born
baby is not a picture of confidence; but how you deal with fear, that's
what counts."
Is it because people are hiding from this that makes them/us act in the
strange ways that we sometimes choose? And that seems to apply in all
kinds of organisations.
As this is my first contribution to the conference, a brief intro -
working in the areas of change management in the UK; past experience
inside organisations in HR roles particularly with Tektronix where I
learned an enormous amount about my role in helping/preventing change -
and the possibilities. I am linked with Ian who has already contributed to
this conference on several themes.
