Replying to LO12042:

Roxanne replied to my earlier post by writing:

" This is a great story, though a frightening example of the unhealthy
outcomes of a grading system. Your professor was required to grade
students, so he/she developed a system - a poor system and then proceeded
to administer it poorly. Because of the grading system and this
professor's power over your life, you lost some of your freedom.
I hope that you will be able to c"hoose" (in the words of a couple of
earlier posts) to not let this person and this incident continue to hurt
you."

As I read your response, Roxanne, it occurred to me what a great learning
experience that was....I went on to become a college professor myself and
vowed (and I think was successful) in never putting my students into a
position like that..I probably worked even harder than I might have to
ensure a safe and nurturing environment for participation...

I have "chosen" to not let this experience have any more power over me
than it deserves...but it is always "there" (isn't is weird how some
incidents have such power over one's life when other "bigger" incidents
don't?) Thanks for your response!
