Replying to LO9128

Richard Karash had asked this question a few months ago. I had not added
my thought then. After a break of almost two months, I am back on this
list. Hello everyone. I respond to Richard's question with a pre and post
subscription view.

As a new member on the list, since June 1996, till I unsubscribed in
September, I was like "ragpicker". The ragpicker finds the garbage bin a
homely place. The onlooker may not see his purposiveness and excitement
as he/she wallows in the garbage. Picks up what is useful and throws it
into the bag. Sometimes they throw something into the bin for other rag
pickers to pick. Many items are not picked up because the person(s) may
not know what it is all about. So too many of my colleagues must have
thought the same about me as a ragpicker in front of the LO conversation,
reading through most of the contributions, enjoying some, linking well
into some conversations and many just went over my head(my limitation).

In a way, I will continue to be a rag picker. Only more selective in
reading and responding. I have started on a new assignment in a teaching
Institute. I was designing and preparing for a course called Managing
Village Level Organisations, I'll be offering this course from mid
December. Since its the first time, I had to concentrate and hence the
break. I welcomed myself into the party for about a week now. By this
contribution I am making my presence known! I hope to continue to benefit
from the conversation on this list as before, by listening and attempting
to say(type) my views.

[Host's Note: Welcome back, Thomas! ...Rick]
