Replying to LO11146 --

Arthur,

I know what you mean about (usually vaguely) anti-union. I am definitely
not one of those.

I wouldn't, however, classify myself as "pro union".

I would classify myself as "pro" human enterprise, human organisation,
human institutions that have positive intentions for humankind. I am
"pro" them even when they have lost their way.

My comment about the Teamsters meeting and the inspiration that it was
came from their consistent and moving message that they saw their purpose
to be the "education, development, enlightenment of the workforce as well
as its safety and contribution to well being" and had very little to say
about this like wages and getting their share.

They saw the unions' job as providing a powerful workforce for the
country.

In case any think they had pulled the wool over my eyes, I have met
independently with some companies who have the Teamsters as employees and
they attibute their continued success in the marketplace to the support
they get from the union and the reliable workers that are provided.

To all those who Arthur accuses of "anti union" bias, chew on that.
