Replying to LO10971 --

Very much enjoyed the whole post. I came away understanding
something very process oriented. Rather than "the group" imposing
constraints to direct behavior, one perceives oneself as involved in a
process of belonging (and becoming?), where one's choices are made through
an awareness of, and respect for, the choices of others within the group.
This may be my own psycho-babble version, but, if this is the gist, I can
definitely agree with that.

Where perhaps I differ is that I understand belonging and
separation as part of a dynamic whole. For me "immorality" would arise
from one not being informed by the other. I think separation, or making
distinctions, is a fundamental part of creative, adaptive process.
However, if unity and part were divorced from each other, not engaged in a
sort of "stochastic walk", that's when you would find yourself in trouble,
in my opinion.

So although I think we cannot know an ultimate "code", I think we
often can have glimpses of, be "in sync with", an ultimate process of
"coding". To me this is what I think of as an unconditioned belonging, a
Yes to Life, a Yes to Love, interpreted variously by different cultural
traditions, all part of one "cosmic group", so to speak. Leaving wide
open an infinite space of possible behaviors, provided they are creatively
and spontaneously enacted through a "felt" respect for Life and Love.
