Hullo-- forget the mouthful and call me Kathryn!

I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. Have been here two years with my Kiwi
husband, whom I met in Santa Fe. Work experience is with the Air Force,
NASA, and my own little corp. assisting Small Business Innovative Research
(SBIR) firms. Am doing PhD research at U of Canterbury, relating to the
question of whether certain elements of organisational culture are
requisite for performance success with a TQM strategy. Am very keen on LO,
as I feel that TQM as a named strategy will (thankfully) ride off into the
setting sun as its best tenets become encompassed by the LO philosophy.
The new episteme... .

Your comments have been thought-provoking. I hope I may be able to
contribute some observations of interest, in particular some derived via
immersion into a new culture -- whereby things like Karl Weick's notion of
"test avoidance" amongst the natives of a society, organisation, group,
family... become evident to the outsider. Exposure to new influences can
trigger learning...but perhaps the need to assimilate and belong has the
opposite effect? Ideas for future discussion! (but forgive me for not
knowing if such things have already been discussed here in the past.)
