There is nothing like climbing on a different soap box! The magic of a
language is a great new perspective to a whole new world. When one learns
a new language, then he or she learns many new things about a culture
speaking that language that one would have not been able to "see"
otherwise. A very simple and quick exercise I use is to ask my learning
partners (students) to climb on their chairs one by one (a la Robin
Williams' Dead Poet SOciety), and to narrate what they feel. They have
seen their classrooms so much from the sitting positions that they
understand better what it means to take a different perspective on the
same issue.

Thanks,

-- Ivan,
