Many read Fast Company -- I finally got around to the latest issue on the
plane yesterday -- and read an article about groups across the US who
"pool a little money, aggressively seek out grassroots organizations to
fund, provide organizational advice and seed capital, and then track their
progress. Think of it as venture philanthropy." One organization they
supported helps babies born addicted to crack. The article is called The
New Face of Social Capital by Eric Matson.
Stephen Covey is one of the largest companies in the consulting business
exceeding $50 M annually and his stuff is all about values and caring
about others. I believe he is a Mormon and a lot of what he states are
basic Moromn values -- please correct me if I am wrong.
One of my clients once told me about a secret part of his life that no one
knows about. He regularly goes into NYC and brings people food, clothing,
and helps in anyway he can -- annonymously.
There are 2000 people who subscribe to this list alone which is based in
some very strong positive values.
Many of the younger people today are smarter than us -- we are evolving!
And I see some incredibly big hearts.
I guess I believe in the dualism stuff -- there is some sort of a
balancing mechanism in effect. I don't really think it has to be that way
but we haven't evolved enough to let go of the good and evil baggage we
carry around. I was relieved to have a dream where I was having a great
conversation with the devil. I guess Jungian analysis would say that I am
accepting what I perceive to be my darker side. I guess this gets back to
the thread on judgement -- what would happen if more people started to be
more accepting of their darker sides? Would we have less of a need to
play them out in the world?
