I sent a request to get some help and advice on improving the level of
participation of healthcare staff in the development and implementation of
strategic and operational plans.
I received 4 replies. Thanks to all, once again, for your contributions.
I will share this information with my colleagues for us to absorb and
experiment.
Steve Cabana recommended:
Emery,M & Purser,R (1996) The Search Conference: A Powerful Method for
Planning Organizational Change & Community Action. Jossey Bass ISBN:
0-7879-0192-X
Bill Hendry suggested listening to front line employees and getting
managers to directly support their efforts with patients and customers.
Julie Beedon suggested the Tavistock socio-technical methods as
represented by the forthcoming work of Billie Alban & Barbera Bunker. She
also recommended the book Managing Change in the New Public Sector
published by Longmans.
Finally, Rachel Bodle suggested a mailing list GRP-FACL , a healthcare
practitioner in England, and a commercial consultancy organization IDON in
my own home country Scotland!
Thanks for the interest and help.
