Jean Marie Bonthous says you cannot learn Action Learning from words. All
I have learned *ABOUT * AL is from books and articles and talking to those
who have participated in or practised AL. So my comments/queries are not
based on personal experience.

Jean Marie writes:

>Learning is the central purpose of AL. . . .. The
>learning may seem to be a byproduct. It is in fact both the method and
>the purpose of AL.

Surely from the rest of her (his?) outline it becomes clear that the
application of the learning is as important as the learning. What is
interesting, as I understand it, is that set members, unlike work teams,
bring different individual problems to the set and, again unlike work
teams, they need individually to implement the solutions worked out in the
Action Learning Sets back in their own work environment with colleagues,
bosses and subordinates who may not have participated in similar
experiences.

Jean Marie refers only to managers. Is Action Leaning not applicable
beyond management?

Professor Reg Revans, who moved to Belgium when his AL was not taken up
seriously in the UK, is now back in England and is one of the founders of:
