Replying to LO9602 --

Debbie questions whether a politician has as a basic need money and power. I like
what she had to say. However, it does not change the fact that to be successful in
politics, especially on the national level, it takes both money and power. Good
intentions are insufficient.

Thus, the system requires money and power to be successful, even when your
intentions are good. And, because a public official has both does not mean that
he/she is a bad person.

Since the system requires both money and power they become, in my mind, basic
needs.
