Reply to LO9164 where Simon Devereux has added his view on money as
an avoider of dissatisfaction rather than a motivator.

I would like to add an interesting theory I heard from Prasad Kaipa of
Mithya Institute of Learning that, in the asbsence of conditions for
higher orders of motivators(self actualisation ...), individuals tend to
revert to lower orders of motivation(safety..). This does not detract from
the view that money is a hygeinic factor. Yet I think from Kaipas theory
money should not be underrated as a potential motivator in certain
situations.

My own view is that money is a seducer, in the absence of values such as
need for personal mastery. It requires considerable maturity and
discipline to avert diversion from individual vision. Hence, for practical
reasons, what is the right pay packet? How do we arrive at it? These are
questions I have?
