Replying to LO9139 --

Rick's comments on dysfunctional organizations caused me enough discomfort
to make me aware there was some truth to it. From the perspective of
systemic understanding, what I am still struggling with is the locus of
impact. Is this about organizational -- corporate -- dysfunctionality, or
are corporations simply repeating a behavior that is endemic in social
structures throughout the world. Hot spots in Africa, China, Ireland, the
mid-east, southeast Asia, Germany, Iran, Greece, Inida/Pakistan, and so
forth make me think that corporations are just one more reflection of our
willingness to be cruel to each other. Certainly I have seen the same
behavior in educational and government organizations.

The reason I ask is that understanding the root cause of the behavior will
have a lot to do with how effective the cure will be. Regardless of the
cause, Rick's precription to describe what we see is an effective, useful
task.
