Last night, Jim Rohn had some great analogies of evil vs good. One
can't exist without the other. If good exists, there must be evil, if
night exists there must be day. If night didn't exists, we wouldn't
call day day! We'd call it something else! Our task in this world is
to keep the evil at bay, and strive for the good. To keep the illness
out of our bodies, and remain as healthy as we can.

As for the devil, if you beleive in angels, you'll have to allow the
devil in your philosophy. You can't have pure good without the pure
evil. It just won't work!
