An interesting thing about your example is that the particular form I
didn't", suggests, and almost demands that there would have been something
said by the other person PRIOR to the denial.

Perhaps because NLP, while containing some interesting ideas drawn from
other more recognized sciences, is essentially a pseudo-science that also
contains a good deal of overblown claims, techniques and tricks that
aren't validated. Most unfortunately, the field seems to be populated by
some people who's interest is to line their pockets. Don't know if you
have come across the NLP guy who has a www page, and signs his messages
Get Laid NOW.

Some of the terms used and the language seem to be intentionally
constructed to sound scientific without having any scientific validation.
