Replying to LO8362 --

Good day. Just a quick update on the announcement we sent out this week
about the First Collaborative Forum on Implementation of Organizational
Innovation, the theme of which is Implementing Organizational Learning
and/or Action Science. This update is in response to a number of
questions we've received. Many thanks to those who have taken the time to
help us improve our communication.

1. There are three main parts to the forum:
- identifying implementation barriers
- panel discussion of barriers via telephone conference call
- open dialogue via Internet discussion group

2. To participate in the forum requires an investment of about 15 minutes
to fill out and return the issue questionnaire. If you send back your
questionnaire, you will receive a transcript, and you can join the
dialogue in the Internet discussion group even if you don't attend the
telephone conference call.

3. A representative subset of respondents will be invited to participate
on the 90 minute telephone conference call that kicks off the
discussion. About 30-40 minutes will be allotted for background comments
by two of the three panelists (Dr Becker & Ms Powers); the remaining
40 - 45 minutes will be reserved for all participants to address
questions and comments to the panel.

4. If you can't return your questionnaire by July 15, you can return it
later and still participate in the Internet dialogue to begin in early
August -- but it may be too late to be considered for a seat on the
telephone conference call.

If you need another copy of the forum announcement and questionnaire,
please contact me. The responses we have received so far are identifying
excellent challenges, including:
- getting executive buy-in and long-term support
- measuring / demonstrating the business value of organizational
learning and Action Science
- companies "going too fast to learn"
- executives that won't or can't "walk the talk"
- pockets of innovation that don't expand into the organization
- fear of change engendered by recent downsizing, etc.
- designing change initiatives without involving those being affected
- and many others

Thanks!

John Snyder
