RE: Lurkers are O.K. too

Here goes nothing...
As a full time graduate student with a full time job, I look into th=
is list once a day=20
to get some inspiration from you folks to carry on both. For my doct=
oral dissertation I=20
am looking at learning as transformation. I am especially interested =
in the dichotomy=20
between what=B9s taught in schools and what is relevant for the workp=
lace of the 90=B9s and=20
beyond. =20
I learn a lot from this list and occasionally find something that eit=
her clarifies my=20
thinking on my graduate work or touches my heart. That was the case =
a few minutes ago=20
when I read the reply from W.M. Deijmann from Europe. Thank you for a=
global perspective.

I came to Systems Thinking from a different viewpoint. I was training=
as a family systems=20
counselor while working at a high tech company in a time of a major d=
ownsizing. I began=20
to believe that family systems concepts would be applicable in my wor=
kplace and have=20
since then begun a Ph.D. program in organizational systems.=20

A colleague and I recently had a conversation that something seems to=
be lost from family=20
systems that has not yet translated well into organizational systems.=
As of yet, we have=20
not been able to put a finger on what that is. I also attended the S=
ystems Thinking in=20
Action conference last year in Boston. I feel that I understand syst=
ems very well from=20
my background however, one dilemma I have is that it is incredibly ha=
rd for me to make=20
that knowledge translateable to someone who is unfamiliar with system=
s thinking.=20
I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who is interested =
in these topics. =20
Thank you for your inspiration.
