Barry Mallis offered some useful comments about consensus.
In my latest work, I have come to perceive that consensus can be most useful
when viewed as a means, not as an end or goal in itself. I view consensus as
the strategy to schieve "commitment" to decisions that stick.
It is easy to pursue consensus as the end goal -- it is kind of intoxicating
to think that we all agree. When that becomes the focus, we start to lose
sight of the real issue.
