For single-loop learning, a massive computerized catalogue would be great.
We are pondering this for our planned agency universal help-desk function
as we try to transfer knowledge from assorted individuals to anyone who
wants to know. (We aren't starting with the computer, but with human
busybodies who thrive on finding things out.)

But for double-loop learning, the complexities of capturing the learning
explodes. Systems dynamics models would be great but for everything...?
Sheesh! Better to pick and choose, I think. We are in the middle of
restructuring, which means lots of job postings, hirings, etc., so we have
chosen this process for a learning history. A couple folks from the
Transition Team go around interviewing participants, those who got hired,
those who didn't, to find out what could be improved. It's been extremely
powerful -- dredging up lots of stuff we could never admit about ourselves
and dramatically improving the process as we go along. Only downside is
that the Learning Historians found themselves being asked to actually
conduct the group interview for the next two executive positions instead
of the human resources leader!
