Greetings from the Great White North (eh),

This month, I will be starting a new project with my employer, The City of
Winnipeg. We are preparing to redesign our job classification system by
the end of 1999. One of the components of the project involves the use of
computer modeling to help us learn about and identify the various system
interconnections and implications of potential designs.

I would like to connect with others who have experience in the redesign HR
systems, generally, and/or the use of computer modeling software. I have
been introduced to ithink!, but am not necessarily committed to it. (I
don't know enough about the options available to make any judgments.)
Besides the Fieldbook, are there any critical reviews of the various
software packages available?

Is there anyone on the list who has conducted a redesign of an HR system
according to LO principles? If so, what are some of the significant
things you've learned that you would want to pass on to a "rookie." What
would you do / not do differently, if you had to do it all over again?

I would also like to connect with anyone who is "in the same boat" for
mutual support and sharing learning.

If you wish, comments can be posted to the list or sent to me directly:

[Host's Note: As always, use your judgment whether to reply directly to
Bill or to the LO list. ...Rick]
