I am a doctoral student seeking three groups on which to gather data for
my dissertation. the study is a causal comparative study concerned with
the effects of workplace education on productivity as measured in hours
per job/ unit produced. Here are the criteria for the three groups:
1) they must be in similar industries
2) there must be a linear productivity component; it would be preferable to
also have a non-linear productivity component (such as clerical or
administrative) as well.
3) they must be similar in size and pay scale (no more than 400 employees)
4) these can be departments or divisions within a company, or seperate co.'s
5) each group must meet the following individual criteria
a)group a
o must be engaged in an action research / sociotechnical approach
to organizational change (6-18 mos. into the program)
o must be engaged in a customized training program designed
specifically to support the action research approach (at least 4 mos into
training)
b) Group b
o must be engaged in an action research / sociotechnical approach
to organizational change (6-18 mos. into the program)
o while this group may have a std. training curriculum in place, it is not
designed to support action reserach skill development; no training
curriculum is required
c) group c (control)
o std. centralized hierarchical structure and approach to decision making.
this organization has not engaged in any type of org. change redesign
(downsizing within the last 12 mos. is permitted)
o std. corp. training curriculum or std. site training curriculum (no
training curriculum is required)
