I think that;

the human mechanism is communication
the signals that the signaling mechanism gives off are mental models
the mental models that are on the same logical level sometimes conflict
which leads to a breakdown in the signalling mechanism

Solution?

Switch the logical levels of the mental models involved

Complication?

First requirement - a way to switch the mental models (learning level 3)
Second reqirement - a way to know which mental models to switch
Third requirement - a way to distinguish the logical levels of the mental
models
Fourth requirement - complexity management skills to figure out
ramifications of switching mental models
