Replying to LO5652,

Steve contributed a very thoughtful statement about metaphors. I have
been trying to become famous with the phrase "fight metaphors with
metaphors", but have had little success.

Absent any doubt that metaphors will continue to be used, and will provide
learning benefits of the type described by Steven, I still want to post
this quotation, for what it implies concerning top management who cover up
all kinds of deficiencies by using current buzz-words, also often called
"metaphors". Here is the quote:

"Any question can be made immaterial by subsuming all its answers under a
common head...The sovereign road to indifference, whether to evils or to
goods, lies in the thought of the higher genus." William James
(1842-1910).
