Rol refers to his involvement in a state-wide task force that dealt with
the question:
>two-thirds of citizens agreed. Apparently there is a disagreement about
>the fundamental goals of school. What does everyone think?
Not one to keep my ideas on this subject to myself, I wrote a little (and,
originally, little noticed) book on this subject: WHAT'S WORTH TEACHING?
SELECTING, ORGANIZING, AND INTEGRATING KNOWLEDGE (The State University of
New York Press). They published it as part of their Philosophy of
Education Series. Pre-publication reviewers were evenly split on the 5
point scale SUNY used. Half gave it the highest possible rating; half
checked "Unsuitable for Publication."
No educational jargon. And very specific.
