Replying to LO5061 --

>I always thought that Mr. Deming knew about the learning organization
>approach to organizing. I thought i remembered something about Deming
>writing a foreword for The Fifth Discipline, but it isn't in the Dutch
>translation i have. I thought that in the foreword there was something
>like: " ... our prevailing systems of management have destroyed our people
>.." Is this in the American original?

The Deming quote that appears on the back of the dustjacket of the first
edition of the _Fifth Discipline_ (New York, Doubleday Currency, 1990)
does indeed begin with "The prevailing system of management has destroyed
our people..." As an aside, Deming does not even appear in the index to
this edition.
