I'd like to second what Roxanne typed about blame culture and our American
difficulty with team environments.
Against the team stages model of forming, storming, norming and
performing, it may be that Americans are currently into the storming stage
of development overall. Sports mania notwithstanding, the relative degree
of mistrust we still bring sometimes to team work in the workplace belies
the strong urge to blame which, as Roxanne points out, runs not so silent
and deep in this culture.
