In the performing arts the big word for the past three
years has been "venue." At an International conference of
performing arts presenters we had a game to see who would be
the one to use "venue" the most in one sentence. I believe
it was four times and was an agent from France. All kidding
aside, what we found was, if we didn't use it, they didn't
pay attention. It sort of functioned as a card to the
"serious business" club of people hiring events for the
coming year. If you knew the word, you were "in" and could
be taken seriously. We could have saved a lot of money on
our booth, video, tape recorders etc, just used printed
material and "venue" alot.
