I have only just signed onto the group, and spent a few days lurking to
get the flavour of the debate.
I have just established a special interest group among senior managers in
a major British telecommunications company to consider organisational
learning and the learning organisation in the context of the future of
work itself.
The group is interested in theories and practice in these topic areas,
hearing about peoples' experiences in implementing organisational learning
and aspects of learning organisations, and how we can measure their
success. We are also interested in how we can sell the ideas and
practices to sceptical senior managers.
My own background is in personnel, management services, and, nowadays,
corporate people strategy. I am a psychologist by training, and aware of
theories of learning and development, both for individuals and
organisations. I also have a background in the physical sciences, maths,
and computer science, and so I am also interested in how IT and the
'knowledge revolution' will affect, inter alia, society and the world of
work.
I look forward to following group discussions, and hope that from time to
time I may be able to contribute something of use.
