Thank you, Peter, for your thought-ful-provoking response to my "Getting
Paid to Play" comments. I noticed your signature line "if your not having
fun, you're not doing it right." My guess is that you're a consultant. My
social commentary is that perhaps this is just further evidence.

I think that most of us who have become consultants are similarly driven
by our faith in fun, similarly driven away from working in large
organizations, similarly discovering that large organizations seem to
systemically disregard the singular importance of joyful work.

Yes, yes, yes, the rewards of trust and friendship are without measure,
and cannot be equated to the crass material joys of financial reward. And
yet, as I go about marketing my various consultancies, I find, despite my
occasional fiancial successes, despite the effectiveness of my
trust-building team-building efforts, saddened, deeply, by the knowledge
that the very system that is rewarding me for my playfulness is
systemically punishing others for theirs.
