I think this is one of the most valuable topics we can discuss. I
have some strong opinions on this topic, as you'll see below:

Maybe we should stop putting all of the responsibility for children's
education on the school systems, and start putting more of it on the
parents and the adults. It's a shared responsibility. We can't
expect the school system to teach our children and ready them for the
new millenium, if their role models at home and in society at large
don't treat education and our future with respect and anticipation.

Yes, the school systems need to be revamped. But maybe it should be
recreated from scrap. The teachers and educators have to learn how to
get children interested in learning. Regularly. Instead of a summer
vacation, spread the time out throughout the year. Reduce the amount
of school vacations. Make them more flexible. Make the teachers have
to attend schools and get re-certified. Have the students grade the
teachers. Get more alliances with schools and businesses. Give
parents homework. Give parent report cards on their involvement.

We're all in this together. We should all take some responsiblity for
where it's going.
